Patricia Byrne is an artist based in Galway, Ireland. Pat came to art later in life, having initially been a secondary school teacher of science and maths. Her love of nature and colour and a sense of fun are very evident in her work. Pat works in oils and depicts birds, flowers, landscapes, towns and villages in a vibrant, quirky and sometimes surreal manner. As she says “I often find it easier to express myself in paint and colour than in words”.
Pat first came to Ireland in 1975 from Detroit, Michigan to study Natural Sciences in University College Galway. She soon fell in love with Galway and set about making it her home. Pat feels very fortunate to be so close to the sea and to live along The Wild Atlantic Way, a constant source of inspiration in her work. She has exhibited extensively and her work is included in private collections in Ireland and around the world.
